CIA-linked Pak spy: US troops cannot defeat Taliban
Press TV Sunday, June 7, 2009 A former Pakistan intelligence agent who helped CIA in forming the Taliban says the US must talk with the group as it will never be able to defeat the militants. Amir Sultan Tarar — better known under his nom de guerre, Colonel Imam, the individual who trained Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar — said Saturday that the US must engage in talks with the highly-trained Taliban instead of increasing the number of its troops, which will only will result in the sacrifice of more lives.
