Hong Kong finds 1st case of Tamiflu-resistant H1N1
Reuters Friday, July 3, 2009 HONG KONG, July 3 (Reuters) – Hong Kong’s health department said on Friday it had detected a case of human swine influenza virus that was resistant to Tamiflu, the main antiviral flu drug. The World Health Organisation has declared a pandemic is under way from the new H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu. WHO warns swine flu ‘unstoppable’
BBC News Friday, July 3, 2009 The UN’s top health official has opened a forum in Mexico on combating swine flu by saying that the spread of the virus worldwide is now unstoppable. World Health Organization head Margaret Chan added that the holding of the meeting in Cancun showed confidence in Mexico, which has been hard hit. The WHO says most H1N1 cases are mild, with many people recovering unaided.
