Phil Hart, R-Hayden, has his way in the Idaho Legislature, whole-body scanners won’t be used as a primary screening method at Idaho airports anytime soon. Hart believes the scanners, while a good tool for security, are too invasive and unproven medically for use in the state.

Operation Moshtarak: three more civilians killed in Afghanistan
Hannah Devlin London Telegraph Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 Nato troops and their Afghan colleagues involved in Operation Moshtarak have suffered another blow after three more civilians were killed in the campaign against the Taliban. The deaths – in three separate incidents – come after two US missiles struck a house on the outskirts of the town of Marjah on Sunday, killing 12 people, half of them children. Three others killed in the house were identified as Taliban fighters by local authorities.

Hannah Devlin London Times Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 A science blogger has uncovered a catalogue of errors in Met Office records that form a central part of the scientific evidence for global warming. The mistakes, which led to the data from a large number of weather stations being discarded or misused, had been overlooked by professional scientists and were only discovered when the Met Office’s Hadley Centre made data publicly available in December after the “climategate” e-mail row.

UKPA Monday, February 15th, 2010 The use of body scanners at UK airports may be unlawful, the Equality and Human Rights Commission has warned. Scanners already in place at Heathrow and Manchester Airports may be breaking discrimination law as well as breaching passengers’ rights to privacy, the commission said.
